AT Day 101: Rainy Day to the Dover Oak
Daily Miles: 12.3, Total Miles: 1,451.9
Nice grass lawn behind the pizzeria to camp on but I didn’t realize there was a cement plant across the street seemingly working and shipping out 24 hrs per day. I put the earplugs in for the industrial noise plus the pitter patter of rain most of the night. No regrets though!

More up and down, rock, slick leaf litter and rain for the 12 miles to West Dover Road. Drenched by the finish at the Dover Oak. The largest oak tree on the AT, estimated at 300 years old and six feet in diameter. So it was a much smaller tree during the George Washington days! I called a local taxi service to Pawling NY and was picked up within five minutes.
IHad lunch and dried out, picked up my resupply box and checked into the Station Inn, a nice (and only) place in town with a railroad running through it. I will probably use the earplugs provided at bedside.
The Inn owner recommended McKinney & Doyle Fine Foods for dinner across the street. The lobster risotto was very good – never had that for a trail meal!

Zero day tomorrow!
