AT Day 147: Zero Day in Caratunk ME

A nice relaxing day at the Sterling Inn in Caratunk ME. I’m kind of getting into hard boiled eggs at these places. Combined with bagels and fruit, a balanced meal with some protein. I’ve held myself to three eggs but should probably bump that up.

Zack at the Inn is also the postmaster so at the end of his 2-hr shift today, he hand-delivered my resupply box. Sure happy to get my new, long awaited Brooks Cascadia shoes. My old pair were filthy, full of holes, cut up, soles flattened and a peculiar, somewhat embarrassing odor. This new pair will definitely get me to the end.

I tried to take a nap this afternoon and have been having weird hiking dreams. In this one, I was dragging a wagon behind me and pretty proud of it. Good idea, but probably not acceptable on the AT. Headed back out to Great Northern for dinner. If I had brought my short shorts, I could have enjoyed a soak in their hot tub. I got back to the Inn and had a Maple Whoopie Pie – irresistibly sitting on the shelf at the Inn store.
