AT Day 52: Carvin Cove Down to Daleville

Got quite a bit of rain last night and early this morning. My glasses were constantly fogging up this morning. But I did get some beautiful views and pics of low lying clouds and mist over Carvin Cove Reservoir before dropping down to Daleville VA.

On the way, I heard a very distinctive and different bird call – my first yellow-billed cuckoo.

I got a much appreciated early check-in at the Super 8, especially considering they were full last night. Lots of nearby high school and college graduations. Washed my wet clothes, took a long shower, and made the one-mile trek to the post office before it closed. On the way back, I picked up a few items at the Outdoor Trails store including a new lightweight Outdoor Reseach LS T-shirt. Finally time to retire my Smartwool pullover, served me well but now too warm and also full of holes.

Good afternoon of rest but ventured out again for an IPA and nice BBQ dinner at the Three Li’l Pigs.
