AT Day 81: Short Hop to Duncannon
Daily Miles: 3.6, Total Miles: 1,149.6
Just after midnight last night I was awoken by a new bird, an Eastern Whip-poor-will. At first, a cute, very distinctive call. An hour later, it was downright annoying. Back on the trail this morning, I stopped at Hawk Rock with fine views of Duncannon PA along the Susquehanna River.

I picked my way down the rocks into town and straight to breakfast. I am now a fan of Philly sausage with my eggs and hashbrowns. Should have tossed it down with another Lipitor.
I walked up another block to the post office for my resupply box, then back down to the laundromat. Met a nice local woman from “Spread the Love”, a charity group, who paid for my laundry despite my protests. Finally got checked into the Doyle Hotel, originally the site of the National Hotel built in 1828 and burned down years later. The Doyle Hotel was built in 1905 by the Busch family, I would think financed by beer money. I later had dinner there and a front table seat to live music.
