AT Day 83: Out of the City & Into the Country
Daily Miles: 21.5, Total Miles: 1, 171.1
Although I enjoyed my stay, the first hurdle this morning was finding my way out of the Doyle Hotel. The door at the bottom of the stairs to the first floor and exit was locked from the other side. I went back to the second floor, out to the balcony and found exterior stairs off the back end of the hotel. Glad there wasn’t a fire last night.
On a cool and cloudy Saturday morning, I walked across town and crossed two long bridges over the Juniata River and the Susquehanna River.

Crossed the railroad tracks and climbed steeply to a narrow ridge and spent all day on the crest with filtered views of farms and green fields in the valley below.

Needless to say, rocks on the trail were ever present. A light rain most of the day kept it cool.

I saw several southbound day and section hikers. New bird for the day: House Sparrow.
