AT Day 91: Rainy Day to Delaware Water Gap
Daily Miles: 9.2, Total Miles: 1,297.2
Rained all night and, yes, the hiker who camped so close to me last night had a steady snore. I’m sure I returned the favor. I also awoke to a puddle at the bottom of my tent so I wasn’t a happy camper.
I put on my soggy clothes and made a quick exit, taking the slightly longer bad weather bypass around Wolf Rocks. No views to be had in this mist and these rocks get very slippery when wet. A steady drizzle all the way into Delaware Water Gap PA.
A short detour and I was walking down Main Street. An attractive little town, I passed a few coffee shops and headed towards the motel. I was stopped by the Village Farmer and Bakery. A fine selection of bakery items plus they make some breakfast and lunch sandwiches. I settled on a large coffee and egg sandwich which I ate there and a huge Apple Caramel Cloud pastry to go. The Cloud had a humongous mound of whipped cream on top.

The motel nightly rate was OK but disappointedly charged a per hour fee for early arrival which I complained about. The place was nearly empty and the room was already available – I got a small discount. Guest laundry was $4 each for the washer and dryer. At least the room was clean. Maybe a saving grace and something I haven’t seen before – an adjoining Dunkin Donuts!
Good progress on hiker chores, I headed to the Sycamore Grill for dinner. My intention was to have a salad, perhaps guilty from the huge pastry. But finally decided on the NY strip steak with my salad. All good, I was definitely sated.
