AT Day 93: Across the Delaware River into NJ
Daily Miles: 24.0, Total Miles: 1,321.2
I strolled across quiet Delaware Water Gap on a misty morning. By the time I crossed the Delaware River into New Jersey, the mist was lifting to blue skies. I saw a couple of bald eagles flying along the river.

I quickly entered the Delaware Water Gap Recreation Area and followed very pretty Dunnfield Creek back up the mountain. Another walk in the woods but a different terrain with old glacial ponds. A porcupine waddled onto the trail right in front of me – I gave it right-of-way.

Stopped by the Mohican Outdoor Center managed by the Appalachian Mountain Club. A retreat in a cool setting, I took advantage of the potable water and a cold beverage from the small store.

Several good viewpoints on the NJ countryside, Delaware River Valley and Pocono Mountains along the way in the afternoon. Got water at Crater Lake and thought about a swim, very inviting, but kept moving.
Up and over Rattlesnake Mountain – this area has rattlesnakes and copperheads but didn’t see any. Found a nice campsite near Blue Mountain.
Other new birds today: Chipping Sparrow, Gray Catbird and a Baltimore Oriole.
