AT Day 98: Green Canopy of New York
Daily Miles: 21.9, Total Miles: 1,397.9
Jim from Lake Lodging took me back to the TH off NT State Route 17A. A light but steady rain for about the first four hours of hiking – careful footing required. Under the green canopy today, made even greener by tall green grass and green ground cover. Couldn’t see much at the viewpoints early in the day due to weather but I did pass some nice waterfalls and small lakes. I met and passed the hikers I had dinner with in Greenwood Lake just before lunch at Elk Park.

Back up on the mountain, Lemon Squeezer, a narrow crevasse through broken boulders was a tight squeeze, short but fun. Passed high above Large Lake Tiorati late in the day and finally found a flat tentsite near the shelter.

I saw several day-hikers near the many road crossings. New birds today: Veery, Canada Goose and a Yellow-billed Cuckoo.
