AZT: Updated Plans
The beautiful weather and urge to get going caused me to advance the border start date to February 18. Of course, this means it will probably snow between now and then!
I plan to hike through the Catalinas north of Tucson and then take a break for a wedding. Then kickoff the rest of the hike to Utah in late March from the American Flag TH near Oracle. This should put me at the finish line in early May.
The gear for the AZT is mostly acquired. The latest acquisition is a SPOT messenger my wife insists on for what she says are obvious reasons. I also picked up an iPhone hybrid charger to extend the life of my Gaia GPS app showing AZT maps.
Now, I just have to mix up some tasty meals and continue to do what I can to prepare the body. Of course, it’s far too late to get in real shape! My wife and I took a nice hike yesterday to Bridal Wreath Falls in the Rincon Mountains east of Tucson.
