CDT Day 1: Crazy Cook to First Water Cache
Daily Miles: 13.7, Total Miles: 13.7
Mrs. Haze and Kerbie saw me off on the Lordsburg shuttle provided by the CDTC. After the 6:30am start, Juan got us to the border in three hours, mostly on a bumpy, rocky primitive road.
Joining me on May 1 at the Crazy Cook Monument were Moss, Chris, Tragic and Trivia. After the kick-off photos, off we went through the creosote and flowering ocotillo forest with prickly pear and skittish cattle.

A gradual climb on a combination of trail, dirt roads and washes got me to the first CDTC water cache. After a rest on a warm day, I decided to camp here and give the feet a chance to ease into the trail.

Tragic and Trivia joined me and we enjoyed the sun setting over the Hatchet Mountains and a nearly full moon rising in the east.
