CDT Day 104: Into Yellowstone National Park
Daily Miles: 20.2, Total Miles: 1,806.1
Got really cold this morning, no doubt the coldest yet – I pulled on my buff and down jacket and zipped up my sleeping bag again. Water bottles almost frozen solid. I didn’t get away until 8am which is late for me.
A few miles later I was able to rock hop across the headwaters of the Snake River. I entered Yellowstone National Park at the Fox Creek Patrol Station. All locked up, but I took nice snack break on the porch.

I followed the Snake River for almost ten miles watching it grow larger and larger, flowing in and out of steep canyons. This area had also seen a big forest fire in the recent past.

Only a few more miles up Heart Creek and I reached my backcountry campsite. I was moved here from Heart Lake due to bear activity. Crocs showed up a few hours later.

Only saw one SOBO hiker today, Laugh Track. She said there was a pack of hikers just behind her and that could be the last hikers going southbound this year.
