CDT Day 110: Centennial Mountains
Daily Miles: 19.6, Total Miles: 1,940.4
The hike this morning started well with good tread and trail signage until past pretty Aldous Lake.
I then entered burn areas with chest-high weeds, flowers and downed trees. Not to mention the trail markers disappeared. Lost the trail a few times and fell on my face twice. Almost a typical day for me on the CDT.

I also encountered one of the steepest grades I have seen on the CDT here in the Centennial Mountains straddling the ID/MT border.

Met a sheepherder on horseback and his three dogs early on – he didn’t know much English and neither did one of his dogs that followed me for almost a mile. Also met Extro, my first SOBO, and Glen, heading south to catch the upcoming solar eclipse near Dubois.

I have carried DEET for nearly 2,000 miles on the CDT and used it for the first time this morning. A stiff breeze was a welcome relief.
