CDT Day 116: Rollercoaster past Morrison Lake
Daily Miles: 23.3, Total Miles: 2,043.4
Another early start to make up for weather delays and knowing today has some big vertical. Elk were bugling as we were packing up and we spooked the herd soon after leaving camp.

Four sizable, uphill pushes today on trails, ATV tracks, dirt roads and bushwhacking between cairns. Beautiful veiws on high points along the ID/MT border.

Got to picturesque Morrison Lake which has public access. A family group was fishing from shore and had caught several large cutthroat trout. Sourdough and I stopped to refill water bottles, congratulate them on their catch and graciously accept an ice-cold Gatorade.

The jeep road walking on from Morrison Lake was ridiculously steep and somewhat tedious. The good news is that the afternoon showers were brief.

Sourdough bailed out at mile 19 after finding a good camping area. I went on for another four miles to put me within striking distance of Bannock Pass and Leadore ID.
