CDT Day 122: Miner’s Lake ID & Jackson MT
Daily Miles: 8.0, Total Miles: 2,135.6
I slept like a log the past few nights. Trying to read a book, but can’t get more than a few pages in before nodding off.
One more climb this morning and down to a new section of trail to the Miner’s Lake Road. We walked four more miles and stopped just past the CG above Miner’s Lake. While sitting there waiting for a car to come by and take us the 14 miles into Jackson MT, a cinnamon bear came up from the lake, crossed the road about 50 ft from us, and disappeared in the trees and tall grass. Sourdough and I both had our phones in our hands but too quick to get a pic.

After about two hours, a truck came by. The family had a cabin about halfway to Jackson and we took advantage. An hour later, my sons blew past us in their pickup without seeing us. I quickly called and got them headed back.

We got settled into the old, restored Jackson Bunkhouse, and, with the only restaurant in town not open, headed over to nearby Wisdom MT for an early dinner and large piece of coconut cream pie.
Because of the fire closure, the plan for the next few days is for the boys and I to fish some streams in the Dillon and SW Montana area before me hopping back on the trail. Time will tell exactly what happens – all dependent on the fires.
