CDT Day 142: The Bob and Chinese Wall
Daily Miles: 28.0, Total Miles: 2,533.5
I fell asleep within minutes of getting in my tent last night – before 8pm. Another cold one – maybe fall in the air?
I quickly entered the Bob Marshall Wilderness (the Bob) this morning. A day of following the meandering South Fork Sun River and tributaries upstream until I got to the Chinese Wall, a prominent 1,000 ft high limestone escarpment.

The Chinese Wall, on what was a beautifully clear day, was spectacular – a massive, shear rock wall extending for several miles. Much of the trail was near the base of the wall so great views.

I finally turned east at the end of the Wall along the side of Latch Hill. I found a nice campsite and was all by myself at appropriately named My Lake.

Most of the trail today has been churned and pounded by pack horses so lots of dust and dirt.
Leapfrogged with Navi through much of the day. We met a forest ranger with pack horses and a mule he was having problems with. He informed us of locations of fires near the CDT to watch out for.
