CDT Day 144: Back on the CDT in the Bob
Daily Miles: 23.9, Total Miles: 2,587.1
Despite a beautiful spot on the cabin porch, I didn’t sleep well. Firstly, my NeoAir mattress sprang a leak for the first time in 5,000 miles, I’m sure a sliver from the floorboards. Secondly, that resident mouse stayed up late as well.

I quickly left the Spotted Bear trail this morning and rejoined the CDT at Strawberry Creek which I followed for 12 miles mostly through an old burn to Badger Pass.

Another fire was burning on the other side of the pass but the CDT was just outside the closure boundary.

Once outside the burn area, the trail was overgrown with trees and other foliage so slower going. I quit an hour before I really wanted to but couldn’t pass up a great, level campsite with a good tree nearby to hang the food bag.
My overall impression of the Scapegoat and Bob Marshall Wilderness Areas? I don’t think I’ve ever felt more “out there”. This is about as wild and remote as it gets.
