CDT Day 152: Piegan Pass and Many Glacier
Daily Miles: 15.3, Total Miles: 2,693.0
At least no nighttime visitors, or, if there were, they couldn’t get my attention. I slept like a log.

I had a good climb up Piegan Pass and was rewarded with spectacular views of Piegan Mountain and Glacier.

Some really nice waterfalls on the way down including Morning Eagle Falls.

I had reservations for Many Glacier Lodge along Swiftcurrent Lake and stopped in. The room wasn’t yet ready but I saw a notice about the evacuation of Waterton Park and early closure of Prince of Wales Lodge due to the threat of fire and heavy smoke. This is where Mrs. Haze was going to meet me and we were going to stay at the Lodge. Crap, another barrier and change of plans.
I headed to the nearby ranger station and found, not surprisingly at this point, that the NPS has closed the CDT from here to Waterton Park. I changed my itinerary to exit at Chief Mountain which actually is a bit shorter route to the Canada border. So that’s the new plan, heading out on Friday.
My son is coming up tomorrow and will join me for the last two days on the trail.
Never say never, but I think I’m going to finish the CDT. The only thing that will stop me now is if they close the entire US/Canada border.
