CDT Day 22: Cebolla Wilderness to the Narrows
Daily Miles: 24.8, Total Miles: 378.9
The first water source this morning was supposed to be a spring with water running from a pipe. After some difficulty, I found it but bone dry. The second water source, a windmill and tank, was eight miles up the trail and then another 0.6 miles off trail. The windmill was turning but not bringing up water. The tank had a couple of inches of stagnant sludge. By the time I got to the solar powered pump at mile 13, I was sipping the last of the pee-tasting water.
I hiked by some old cabins in Armijo Canyon, over the top of the canyon, then down to Highway 117. I road walked through the Narrows with high sandstone cliffs on one side and ancient lava flows on the other.

Through the day, I ran into most of the hikers that left Pie Town the same morning I did.

Found a nice camp spot hidden from the highway with good views of the sandstone cliffs and a colorful sunset.
