CDT Day 56: On the Divide to Marshall Pass
Daily Miles: 19.0, Total Miles: 940.0
I hiked back up on the Divide straddling the Gunnison and Rio Grande NFs.

I ate lunch at an old cabin at Marshall Pass. There is road access here so lots of campers, hikers and bikers. I even encountered six ultra-loud and fast dirt bikes on the trail north of Marshall Pass which I hadn’t seen before on the CDT. Joint use(?) that snuck up me real fast.
I reached a high point and had just finished leaving a message for Mrs. Haze – turned around and saw a hiker on the trail. He said, “Purple Haze?”. It was Bambi who I hiked with through much of the Sierras on the PCT. Great to catch up!

Beautiful day on the trail – mountain scenery and the Collegiate Peaks 14k footers coming into view. A few large snowbanks north of Marshall Pass but not difficult to cross up and over.
I could have reached Monarch Pass tonight but felt like an evening with a view right on the Divide crest. Hopefully not too windy and some good pics.
