CDT Day 62: Over Hope Pass Down to Twin Lakes
Daily Miles: 16.1, Total Miles: 1,019.9
There were intermittent showers all evening and throughout the morning.
Downhill all the way to the Hope Pass turnoff and then a 2,300 ft climb over 2.5 miles. Clouds and mist were blowing over the pass so no views to be had.

Finally got into Twin Lakes.

I had previously booked what was probably the last room in town. The owner called it a crib room. Once I established I wasn’t sleeping in a crib, I was OK. Upon arrival, I found the crib room was a standalone small dwelling that the owner had moved down from Leadville and historically was a small house of prostitution. Rolling out the sofa basically cuts off access to the toilet – the price you pay for history. The sofa bed was surprisingly comfortable and I was able to dry out all my wet gear.

I grabbed a big burger late in the afternoon at the only restaurant in town. Good thing I did – they’re totally booked for dinner for the next four nights.
