CDT: Get on the Trail (Already)!
Ready to go – dinners are made, maps/guides broken down and resupply boxes packed up. Boxes are a bit fuller than previous hikes – more calories!
Helped out a fellow 2013 PCT hiker a few weeks ago on the start to his AZT-GET-CDT adventure. Picked up Hiker Box and Heartbreaker at the Tucson airport and drove them to Montezuma Pass near the Mexican border to start the AZT leg. We hosted them for a zero day a week later as they got closer to Tucson. Good luck HB & HB – hope you get to see your Gila Monster!
Speaking of Gila Monsters, I saw my second one this year crossing the driveway as I came back from a bike ride. These creatures are shy – he waddled away as I got my camera ready.

Loaded up the new Arc Blast for a test run on nearby Mt Lemmon a few days ago – happy with it so far. Also loaded up some podcasts for the hike – a nice diversion to the same old music.
At this rate, the San Juans should be good to go by the time I get there. Hopefully the ice axe and microspikes can stay home.
