CDT: Prep & Training
Slowly getting things organized – got the Ley and Brown CDT maps, Yogi’s handbook and downloaded Guthook’s CDT Hiker app. Giving some serious thought to gear and expect to drop at least 5 lbs off my base weight. Happy with my old gear but it’s worn and so many opportunities out there. My legs and feet will eventually thank me. Been awhile since I updated my gear list so may do that in a future post. A few things on my Xmas list!

I’ve put together a training plan and trying to stick to it. The 40 lbs I lost on the PCT are all back and then a few more so would really like to shave off some before departure. The plan is a combination of walks/hikes, weight/core workouts, biking and lap swimming. Fortunately we are in a pretty convenient location for plenty of hiking trails with a range of distance and elevation gains. Having said all that, I continue to remind myself that a lot of the real conditioning, especially the feet, occurs in the first few weeks on the trail.
Getting excited about this new adventure!
