CT Day 12: Strolling into Twin Lakes

A pretty quick hike down through tall, majestic aspen groves to Hwy 82. Then a short road walk into the small village of Twin Lakes.

My first stop was a food “old VW van” for a breakfast burrito and a large coffee. I picked up my resupply box, a few snacks and an isobutane canister from the well-stocked General Store. I was grateful for the early check-in at the Twin Lakes Roadhouse Lodge. No laundromat to be had so washed my clothes in the sink, wrung them out and hung them. Hiker chores pooped me out so took a nap, waking up to rain outside. So nice to be high and dry.

Later, I strolled next door to the Twin Lakes Saloon, the only restaurant in town. Couldn’t pass up the prime rib dinner.

Early to bed and a comfortable bed it is.
