CT Day 16: Princeton Hot Springs & Chalk Creek
Daily Miles: 20.1, Total Miles: 239.3
Up and on the trail by 6:15am.

I climbed out of the Cottonwood Creek drainage and continued south on the east flank of Mt Princeton. Walked through the aspen and ponderosa pine forest for about seven miles. I finally reached a road that descended into the Chalk Creek drainage and the Princeton Hot Springs Resort.

First stop was the market for a refreshing drink. Then walked across the street to the upper pool and resort’s food truck just opening up for lunch. The dining area with picnic tables and shade trees were gated for resort guests only but the attendant graciously unlocked the back gate and let me in. I devoured a bratwurst, sauerkraut and potato salad lunch. I expressed an interest in ice cream and the attendant gave me a huge chocolate and vanilla swirl on the house. She wished me well for the rest of the hike. Made my day!
Another few miles of road walking got me to the Chalk Creek TH. I loaded up on water and climbed out of this drainage back to the eastern flanks of the high peaks.

I made camp at Browns Creek, flowing well. I met a few hikers today on the Collegiate Loop hike.
