CT Day 27: All the Way to Stony Pass
Daily Miles: 20.3, Total Miles: 391.5
Noisy with the wind last night so the earplugs came in handy last night. Also, probably the coldest night on the trail.
On the trail and could hardly see without my headlamp but that didn’t last long. The gloves and beanie were appreciated this morning on the climb to the highest point on the CT at 13,271′.

Then a steep descent to the Carson Saddle historic mining area. I hiked into the Lost Creek drainage and played tag team with some elk hunters. I lost them before I got to the top at 12,900 ft. Up and over into Pole Creek drainage passing a small lake near bigger Cataract Lake.

Stayed well over 12,000 ft the rest of the day in and out of gulches and valleys until reaching Stony Pass.

I found a flat spot just south of Stony Pass. Great views looking down on the Upper Rio Grande Valley. Cool and breezy all day. Clouds were moving fast but a mostly sunny afternoon.
