CT Day 6: White River NF to Highway 9
Daily Miles: 10.5, Total Miles: 103.8
Such a quiet, still night after the rain and hail last evening. I did hear something snuffling around the tent early in the morning. I banged on the tent and whatever it was scampered away.

Always an early start for me when going to town so a bit dark initially. But being at the summit crest early means the sunlight comes quicker. Now in the White River National Forest, I hiked mostly downhill along Keystone Gulch, then Horseshoe Gulch. And along the way rewarded with views down to Frisco, Breckenridge and Dillon Reservoir.

I crossed the Blue River and got to Highway 9 and the free shuttle bus station. Nearly perfect timing as the once per hour bus pulled up and I was quickly in Frisco. A short walk to Walmart for an isobutane canister then headed to nearby New Summit Motel for a much appreciated early check-in.

After starting cleanup/hiker chores, I walked downtown for a delicious cheeseburger and IPA, then the post office for my resupply box. A long walk back to the motel to wash clothes, then a wonderfully long, hot shower.
Hiker midnight comes early, even on town day!
