CT: Progress
I always look forward to my hikes but may be a new level of anticipation with the CT this year. Maybe it’s coming out of this COVID nightmare and returning to more a sense of normalcy. Although the jury is still out on that one. I just hope this country is strong enough and collectively has the conviction to do the right things.

I’m sure it has something to do with the beauty, majesty and memories of past adventures in this state. And I know it has a lot to do with all the senses being on high alert. Sights, smells, taste (town food?), elk bugles, coyotes howling, or maybe an owl hooting while in your tent at night. The occasional adrenaline rush also adds a bit of spice to the experience!
My biggest concern at this point is wildfires later in the season. Not just disrupting my hike, but the potential destruction and long recovery process. Despite the late snows, this country is a tinderbox and extremely dry. I have unfortunately seen burning timber up close and experienced several detours and reroutes on my last several hikes.
Got my travel to Denver booked and a dear friend is picking me up, housing me and taking me to the trailhead. Thanks, Carol!
Mail and resupply are mostly planned – I have always resupplied by mailing my own boxes. I know what I like and hate to waste precious time at grocery stores unless for ice cream.
