DWTH Day 49: JTNP to Yucca Valley

I woke up about 2am to something walking by my tent. With good moonlight, I could see an animal slowly making its way along, I’m thinking a bighorn or maybe a deer.

Wow, what a gorgeous morning and sunrise over the rocks and Joshua trees!

I continued up the scenic Boy Scout Trail and exited JTNP at Indian Cove. The Desert Winter Thru-Hike is officially done!

But my hike continues because of my intent to touch the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT) at Mission Creek. So I kept walking with my first stop at the nearby ranger station but they were closed. I got out to Hwy 62 and headed west towards Yucca Valley, on the way a stop at JT Country Kitchen for chicken-fried steak and eggs, highly recommended.

I got checked into my hotel, took a wonderful shower, washed my clothes and cleaned up my gear. I treated myself to a celebratory dinner at Mohave Gold – roasted beet & goat cheese salad, lasagna and sticky toffee pudding for dessert. Hit the spot!
