GET Day 2: Another Superstition Day
Daily Miles: 15.6, Total Miles: 25.9
I know it’s cold when I put on my down jacket for the last few hours of sleep. I tanked up on spring water before heading out because I know it will probably be dry all day and hoping my destination, Rogers Creek, has a few good pools.
A beautiful hike today with stunning views of the Superstitions and Four Peaks in the distance from several high points. The climb into Upper LaBarge Canyon was also a highlight.

Trail conditions started well but deteriorated as the day went on with overgrowth of catclaw, huge agave, yucca and mountain mahogany.

My water was running on empty as I reached Rogers Canyon at Angel Basin. I found one small, scummy, green and leafy pool full of algae about a half-mile upstream. No choice – hope the filter does it’s job. I came back down the canyon to a flat area near the creek bed and set up camp as light was fading.

Typical second day on the trail – legs are tired and cramping a bit and I need to treat some chaffing. Are we having fun yet?
An owl is hooting nearby.
