GET Day 24: Granville CG to Juan Miller Road
Daily Miles: 15.0, Total Miles: 316.8
The PO opened at 7am and I picked up my resupply box and a new pair of Brooks Cascadia. My old shoes had a number of miles on them before I started the GET and pretty well used up.
Got to my hitching spot on Highway 191N in front of a tire repair place about 8am. Most all mine vehicle traffic although I did have some excitement. After about an hour, a pickup came my way and I stuck my thumb and destination sign out. Saw a lady’s hand come out the passenger window with what appeared to be a couple of one-dollar bills. I caught on pretty quick that she wanted me to grab them from her hand as they drove by. Appreciated her generosity but I yelled I didn’t need the money. I just needed a ride and I had no problem riding in the bed of the pickup. Her partner started to pull over but then shook his head and sped away.
Soon after that experience, I started up a conversation with one of the tire people. He seemed very interested in the trail and gave me a cold bottle of water. I told him if he knew anyone that would take me up the mountain for a nice cash donation, to let me know. He finished his tire job, disappeared for a few minutes, came back and said a young man was coming by to pick me up in a few minutes. On the trail by 10am, thanks Lane!
I walked a short distance up highway 191 (Coronado Trail) and turned east on a trail past the Granville CG. Got up high enough for good views of upcoming Maple Peak and the Mogollon Mountains.

Up and down through a canyon, contoured around a mountain and hit good water at Mud Spring and Wing Tanks. Worked my way down an eroded canyon on an old 4WD road that joined Juan Miller Road late in the day. I found a suitable campsite a few miles before T Link Ranch.
