GET Day 30: Into Gila Hot Springs
Daily Miles: 8.3, Total Miles: 415.5
My tent zippers are completely crapped out now. Haven’t been too concerned but a couple of mozzies were having their way with me.
I continued down the West Fork Gila River on a crisp morning. Only about ten river crossings got me to the Gila Cliff Dwellings National Monument. I had taken a great tour there when I hiked the CDT. Met a couple of young women at the visitor’s center who had just gotten off the Hayduke Trail and were travelling around. Turns out we knew many of the same hikers from our respective trails – small world!
I left the GET shortly thereafter and road walked into Doc Campbell’s Post and Gila Hot Springs. Chatted with a few CDT hikers, picked up my resupply box, bought some food and headed across the street to the Gila River Ranch. I rented a unit there for two nights – zero day tomorrow!

Not much here except for Doc’s (does have Wifi) and hot springs. No phone, no TV, no restaurants, no beer. I did very much enjoy the Ranch’s jacuzzi, flow-thru fed by hot springs.

The fine people at Doc’s gave me a few binder clips I can use to clip my tent screen door. Thanks!
