GET Day 34: Another Day in the Black Range
Daily Miles: 22.6, Total Miles: 484.5
Cold last night – even wore my gloves to bed.
I was hoping for a bit less strenuous day and I got that for the most part. Contouring on or near the crest of the Black Range for the better part of the day.

Only a puddle of water in Chloride Creek and I spooked the deer and elk that were hanging out there. Mostly wet leaves anyway so I didn’t try to filter. Moved on to off-trail Turkey Spring and the tanks were dry. So I trudged another eight miles to a saddle south of Kline Mountain. A steep side trail to access the spring, only a tub full of good water. I loaded up on five liters – dry camping tonight and maybe no water until late tomorrow.

I crossed NM Hwy 59 and made it another three miles before calling it quits. Hiker hunger has definitely set in – I ate my dinner and am already eyeing my breakfast.
