GET Day 5: A Superior Zero Day
I had quite a leisurely day in Superior. I wandered down to Los Hermanos of breakfast and met my first fellow GET hiker, Rain Man.
Back to the motel and met six more AZT hikers. Wow, when I hiked the AZT in 2012, I only saw two other thru-hikers in 800 miles.
I managed to arrange a return to the TH tomorrow with Rusty. A later start than I would like but a sure thing and avoids a long wait for a hitch or even worse, unnecessary walking.
Superior hasn’t changed much since I spent a summer here 40 years ago working at then Magma’s underground copper mine. The hottest three months I have ever experienced, both on the surface and 3,000 ft underground. Wait, I do notice something different and it’s not good – what happened to the Dairy Queen?
A bit of excitement I didn’t need – a crown lifted off while chewing a few Skittles. Put it back in and will try to nurse it along for another week until I can see a dentist.
