HDT Day 10: Canyonlands NP
Daily Miles: 27.0, Total Miles: 128.6
Early start on a big day because I want to exit the south end of Canyonlands to avoid having to use a bear can which is now required in the park. The other big reason was to put me closer to water tomorrow. I hauled seven liters of water today – don’t think I’ve carried that much before and I could feel it!
A beautiful, cool, clear day on a mix of primitive roads, trails, washes, and several cow trails outside the park.

I was able to revisit stunning Chesler Park, The Grabbens and then into Beef Basin where I appropriately saw my first cows of the hike. Apparently there are also several Indian ruins in this area. I saw a smattering of colorful Indian paintbrush today -a few more warm days and should see more spring flowers.

Don’t bother with Homewater Spring – barely oozing and the tub is empty.
