HDT Day 30: The Cockscomb & Grosvenor Arch
Daily Miles: 20.8, Total Miles: 406.6
I said goodbye to Paradise Canyon, climbed out and headed generally northwest over a series of dirt roads. Eventually I got over the Cockscomb and dropping onto the impressive Grosvenor Arch (a double arch).

I chatted with a few tourists and continued to my undisturbed cache a mile later near the Cottonwood Canyon Road. Drank my fill of Gatorade and water, refilled my food bag and even managed to ask a favor of one of the tourists I had met earlier to take out my cache bucket and trash.

Got a few miles down the road and set up camp. I’ve got some planning to do for this point forward. Weather delays and slower going in some of the canyons have me a bit behind schedule. I’ve got a pretty fixed end date and there’s some add-on/alternatives I still want to make fit. I also want to try to maintain my reservation dates for the Grand Canyon NP, my Paria Canyon add-on to the HDT and a continuous footpath on my HDT journey. Sound easy? We’ll see, stay tuned.
