HDT Day 34: Grand View Trail & Bull Rush Gorge
Daily Miles: 19.8, Total Miles: 469.9
Not a comfortable night with some of the heaviest rain I have had on all my hikes. My Zpacks solo plus tent has been OK in light rain and snow but this was beyond that. By morning, the bottom of my sleeping bag was soaked and even my feet were wet.
I got away about 7:30am after giving it about an hour since the last rain. Showers started shortly thereafter but the sun was trying to come out so kept on trucking. The Grand View Trail was easy to follow and well marked however all the clay mud made my feet heavy. A lot of up and down but switchbacks made it manageable. The more difficult sections were in burn areas when it started snowing – no place to hike so kept chugging. Are we having fun yet?

The sun broke through at mid-morning so took an opportunity to start drying out the wet gear. I finally got down to the Podunk TH, just outside the south of Bryce Canyon NP, left the Grand View Trail and re-joined the HDT route.
Picked up a dirt road and dropped into Bull Rush Gorge late in the afternoon. A pretty, narrow canyon with some water at the top end. I kept going until hitting a side canyon that took me to Adams Spring, good water flowing from a pipe, and camped nearby.

Frogs are croaking and a few cows are bellowing at each other. I could have sworn I heard someone hooting up the canyon.
