HDT Day 42: Zero Day in Kanab
Daily Miles: 0, Total Miles: 583.0
Back in Kanab, a good rest and did my best to refuel, starting with a big sausage and eggs breakfast. I followed that up with Big Al’s for lunch, a cheeseburger and large caramel milkshake. Thought that might do it but got hungry in the evening and went to Vermillion 45, a French restaurant. I enjoyed a scrumptious scallops and risotto dish with as much bread and butter as I could eat. Kind of embarrassing. However, I held the line on dessert.
A big weather system is moving into Kanab and the Grand Canyon area tomorrow expected to bring rain and snow for the next four days. Not what I wanted to hear. I arranged a ride back to the trail on Monday but will keep an eye on the weather report.
IForgot to mention in my last post that despite the added miles, some tough, I highly recommend the Paria Canyon alternative for anyone doing the HDT. I was even able to bypass some of the AZT that I have already hiked.
