MRT Day 10: West Clear Creek & Pine Canyon Tl
Daily Miles: 19.3, Total Miles: 141.7
I really wish I could spend more time in West Clear Creek Canyon. It’s another canyon I had the opportunity to explore a bit in my younger years. In the upper part of the canyon, we visited small cliff dwellings that were still well preserved, second story intact, complete with hand prints painted on the walls.

I only had to wade/hike less than a mile down the canyon to pick up the rather obscure beginnings of the Point Trail. This returned me very steeply back to the Rim.

Headed south for several miles on a multitude of remote dirt roads ending in Corduroy Wash. I then crossed AZ Hwy 87 and started down the Pine Canyon Trail, a long switchbacked descent off the Mogollon Rim.

Pine Creek was flowing well and I got great water at Parsnip Spring. Great views of the Rim, Pine Canyon and now, from my tent, the community of Pine.
