PCT Day 109: Sisters Wilderness to McKenzie Pass
Daily Miles: 20.3, Total Miles: 1989.5
On the trail early so saw the sunrise over the Three Sisters. Two old forces at work here, firstly, volcanic, and secondly, glacial. I passed by Middle Sister, just over 10,000 ft, and then The Husband, an old volcanic plug to the west.

50 ft high Obsidian Falls was beautiful. The trail was littered with obsidian chips and then walked by hills and outcrops of pure obsidian.

I got water at Minnie Scott Spring, an aquifer with water bubbling from the bottom of a pool. Next, I crossed several lava ridges and cinder cones.

As I got closer to McKenzie Pass, Three Fingered Jack, Mt Jefferson and distant Mt Hood came into view to the north.

I popped out at the pass on Highway 242 and walked up to Dee Wright Observatory and stuck my thumb out. First car pulled over and straight into Sisters. Dinner at Bronco Billy’s and the end of a long and tiring but good day.
