PCT Day 129: Yakima Pass & Mirror Lake
Daily Miles: 13.6, Total Miles: 2402.2
An owl glided over my head just before sunrise this morning and started hooting from a nearby tree. He had been at it all night long.
Here in Washington, you can get sopping wet on a clear, sunny day. Heavy dew on the high vines and bushes crowding the trail.
A climb to start the day and then down to Yakima Pass – why are the passes the low point? Back up to pretty Mirror Lake and met some Labor Day hikers.
My shoes were already in bad shape but I had a complete blowout in my left shoe. Fortunately Mrs. Haze had earlier convinced me to replace these shoes at Snoqualmie Pass – the just in time approach!

I got down to Snoqualmie Pass and I-90 and checked into the Summit Inn, an old Howard Johnson’s. They still have the all-day breakfast!
I had aardvark tacos at the Aardvark food trailer and was then invited for peach cobbler and coffee at Sheri and Danny’s place in the village here. Great visiting with you – let me know if you get to Tucson!
