PCT Day 144: PCT Monument & Canada!
Daily Miles: 2.9, Total Miles: 2660.1
It rained off and on all night. I also had my first mouse visit – he was perched on top of my tent just under the rainfly looking at me.
No need to rush this morning as our meeting at the border is set for 11am. So I finished the second Longmire book, Death Without Company, by Craig Johnson, a good read. A leisurely breakfast and on the trail by 8:30am.
I caught up with Wendy just ahead of me and we hiked the last three miles together – nice to finish with someone. And we were soon joined by Beads – pictures all around before a steady drizzle.

Mrs. Haze arrived about an hour later for the real celebration! Being my No. 1 trail angel, she brought all the fixings for a picnic, including a great bottle of champagne given to us by old friends living in Washington. Wendy joined us for the festivities.

We finally had to hike the seven miles to Manning Park. After goodbyes and congratulations to some other thru-hikers, we drove to Harrison Hot Springs Resort, west of Hope B.C. for a good soak in the hot pools and a great dinner. What a treat and a nice relaxing finish to a big day! No hikes planned for tomorrow.

I’ll have some more thoughts on the trail and an adjustment period I know is coming (be patient Mrs. Haze) in future postings. But this needs to sink in first! Thanks for following along.
