PCT Day 17: San Bernardino Mtns

Daily Miles: 19.9, Total Miles: 258.5

Today was different from the very beginning – the clear skies and hot weather to this point has turned to cloudy and cool. Pretty hike through the San Bernardino Mountains eventually reaching 8,750 ft.

I stopped and had lunch with Turtle and Willow at the animal cages owned by Randy’s Predators in Action. The PCT goes right by this place that has a lion, bear and tiger that we could see. When we arrived, the bear was flat on his back with his legs in the air. The lion and tiger had a roaring contest – very impressive!

Around mile 253, I came across several hikers enjoying a cache of water and soft drinks. The highlight was sitting in one of two cushioned recliners that someone had toted up the trail for hiker’s comfort.

I found water at a good spring past Arrastre Trail Camp and hiked a further two miles.
