PCT Day 2: Near Mt. Laguna

The loud jeep club party was in full swing until midnight. Then crying babies on both sides of our campsite at Lake Morena. Finally, several nearby turkeys gobbling very early in the morning. Earplugs didn’t quite cut it!

Cool morning but warming up fast as I crossed under the bridge at I-8 which we had driven over at about 80mph the day before yesterday. Saw my first buck naked day hiker after lunch coming from the opposite direction. Who has right-of-way?

I leapfrogged with other thru-hikers to Long Creek. Couldn’t find Morris Spring but only another two miles to the Burnt Rancheria CG. I took a short spur to the CG to find it still closed and water turned off – should read the guidebook more carefully. But right next door is heaven sent Pine House Cafe & Tavern. Four glasses of water and a Stone IPA in a frosted mug! The owner told me no problem filling up my water bottles and then back to the empty CG for my pick of sites – a quiet night.
