PCT Day 24: Descent into Wrightwood

We descended down the Blue Ridge past the Mountain High Ski area to Highway 2.

Two couples were in front of me trying to hitch into Wrightwood on a slow traffic Sunday and Mother’s Day. A gentleman in a pickup with a camper shell stopped with two friendly dogs in the back. Vince said he would take as many as he could. Hedgehog, Boo Boo, Iceman and Cattywampus squeezed into the back with all the backpacks and dogs. I sat up front with Vince for the six miles into Wrightwood. Made my day, Vince!

First stop was Mountain Hardware for resupply and bounce box, then to Pine Cabins for check-in, and off to the Evergreen Cafe for a late breakfast. I couldn’t finish – left some biscuits and gravy on the table.

After all the trail town chores, I saw Roadrunner who was organizing a pizza dinner for hikers – ended up at the Yodeler – good company, good food and good beer! Boo Boo, congrats on your graduation and hope to see you and Hedgehog up the trail.
