PCT Day 28: Mt Gleason to Soledad Cyn & Acton
Daily Miles: 25.5, Total Miles: 444.2
I opted to take a ten-mile alternative route up a closed road to Mt Gleason and Messenger Flats to avoid the dreaded poodle dog bushes – a recommendation from the Mill Creek fire crews. On the way, I passed a very well done memorial to two firefighters who lost their lives in the Station Fire.

A devastating fire but wildflowers in the next section were the best and most colorful yet.

Good views of Vasquez Rocks as I dropped down to Soledad Canyon and left the San Gabriel Mountains. The destination today was a KOA a short distance off the trail, complete with a pool and jacuzzi.

Wonderful even if I had to drip dry! Too tired to be bothered by the Amtrak train that seemed to roll by every few hours.
