PCT Day 38: First Sierra Views & Walker Pass
Daily Miles: 20.0, Total Miles: 651.4
Another much appreciated water cache (thanks Mary!) at Bird Spring Pass before entering Sequoia National Forest and climbing to 7,000 ft. The wind still blowing but trees gave some protection.
One of the highlights of the day was catching a glimpse of the Sierras, Mt Whitney and Owens Peak in the distance. Sign of good things to come.

I arrived at my destination of Walker Pass CG and proceeded to get myself presentable for what was reported to be a difficult hitchhike into Lake Isabella, 35 miles away.

A gentleman pulled up and asked if I wanted a ride to town. Nohawk from Bakersfield hiked the PCT in 1977!
I checked into the Lake Isabella Motel. I’m thinking vintage 1950’s but the only other choice in town got very poor reviews. Clean sheets but me and the barking poodle next door left alone by the owner didn’t get along. The motel owner was very apologetic, apparently no dogs allowed here.
