PCT Day 89: Castle Crags Wilderness
Daily Miles: 24.5, Total Miles: 1531.0
I had Sylvester from Roadrunner Taxi pick me up and swing by the post office, grab some coffee and head out to the TH. They’ve only been in business for a few months and provide a good service in such a small town.
A long, over 4,500 ft vertical climb today and maybe a few degrees cooler than yesterday. The trail entered Castle Crags Wilderness and swung around the southwest base of the pinnacles and crags.
Plenty of water on the bottom portion of the climb but dry on top, although within sight of several lakes far below.

Ther bottom portion was also home to countless, small, annoying, black flies. These flies have no qualms about flying straight into your eyes and ears and straight up your nose. I tied my purple bandana on the front of my pack and swished it around like a tail.

Lots of good views of the Crags and near the top, Mt Shasta came back into view.

Up and over Trinity Divide and headed down to camp above upper Gumshoe Lake.

Nearly a full moon rising alongside Mt Shasta tonight.
