PCT: Recuperation
Hard to believe that three weeks have passed since I completed the trail. I am happy to see that all missing hikers have been accounted for. The weather at the finish line was not very cooperative in late September/early October.
We had a slow trip home. Visited friends in Washington, did some wine tasting in Walla Walla, spent some time with my son and family in Helena MT, getting reacquainted with grandson Charlie, and returned home to see our house sitters, Dad and Gerry. Had a nice reunion with my lab – she thought I had returned from the dead.
Still seems a bit unreal. The first night back, I woke up, didn’t remember where I was, and wandered around looking for the bathroom. I told Mrs. Haze at least I am using an indoor toilet most of the time! I finished the trail about 40 pounds down and am having fun trying to put a bit back on. A friend got me a gift certificate to Dairy Queen worth about ten banana splits – every little bit helps!

I am starting to use some different muscles and even took a bike ride over the weekend – some training for an upcoming 60-mile bike race Mrs. Haze signed us up for.
I’ll have a few more thoughts on the trail, maybe my “best of” list and gear.
