PCT: T Minus One Month
I’ve been busy around here with guests including a great visit with our son, daughter-in-law and 7-month old grandson, Charlie, from Montana. They all enjoyed the warmer weather! Our other son and daughter-in-law are proud parents of their second son born this month. Welcome Liam Michael!
A bit of a setback this month with a bad cold turning into a sinus infection. Got some antibiotics, took the first dose and had a severe allergic reaction. This helped me reach one of my goals the hard way – losing 10 pounds before I start the hike.
While downloading PCT maps, I decided to tally up the elevation gains and losses over the entire length of the trail. Comes out to about 93 miles up and 93 miles down. So for every 10 miles, an average gain of 1,850 ft – a bit more manageable.
I’ve been looking for a way to transfer photos from my camera to my iPhone so I will be able to upload photos to my journal and easily send photos to my family. Got a great tip on my guest book to check out a device called Air Stash. For only 1.25 ounces, this does exactly what I wanted – thanks Mark!
The Sierra snowpack is way behind normal so contemplating moving up the departure a few days. Will see what happens over the next few weeks.
