PCT: Times A Flying
Ten days ago it was snowing in Tucson – this week it was pushing 80 degrees. The Sonoran desert should get good flowers this spring with above average rainfall. The golden poppies may even be bursting out today. I just returned from a few spring training baseball games in Phoenix, another reminder that the hike is coming soon!
I am kind of in my own spring training program at the moment getting ready for the big season. Just hope I’m done with the PCT before the World Series rolls around.
Received my PCT permit this weekend, approved entry permit into Canada and ordered the bear vault for the Sierras. I will be whipping up some more meals this week and get some replacement shoes – LaSportiva Raptors. These worked well for me on the desert rocks on the AZT, but don’t expect big mileage before needing replacement.
While welcoming visitors earlier this week in our driveway, a bobcat strolled across our property right in front of us. I was busy holding the dog back so too late for a photo. This may be the same cat that snarled and hissed at me a few weeks ago when I went down the driveway to get the newspaper – too dark to see.
